New page

Am I Lazy?

Could be the reason that there has been an increase in obesity thanks to the reality that adults in today’s society are lazy? Are we all just a bunch of lethargic couch potatoes that do not do something but sit around and eat all the time? I say no. Rather we're a item of our revolutionary, technological society. I'm not saying we are able to blame technologies, rather I'm saying that as with our youth, the adults are also a reflection with the society that surrounds them. It isn’t an excuse, however it is a believed I pondered depending on my typical day.

I get up within the morning, not towards the sound of an aggravating buzz, beep, or the blaring in the radio. These alarms would get my blood racing ideal from the start, but I'd hit snooze to quit the insanity. Then it would take place again, and once more, the snooze bar. Just after a number of times of this I'm would now be late for perform, rush to the shower if I even had time, rush for the auto, and speed off to work. Not in today’s world. Instead, I wake towards the soothing sound in the ocean on my Homedics radio and slowly wake peacefully. No blood pumping, no increased heart rate. I just have a nice and slow, easy awakening. Subsequent I head to the shower where I put turn on my shower CD player and listen to a thing that I enjoy while I take my time letting the water just about run cold.

In the course of my toweling off and acquiring dressed period in the morning, I can hear my coffee being produced on the coffee maker that's set to create me a cup every morning with me not having to do a factor. When I sit and drink my coffee pondering the day ahead of me, I notice that it is actually almost gone, so I gently push a button on my key ring that begins my automobile and gets it good and warm for me ahead of I even get to it. I can then take my leisurely stroll to my vehicle, get in, and possess a good peaceful drive to perform (barring any unforeseen road rage). Nothing at all like just before when I had to run to my auto since I was late the majority of the time on account of the annoyance of my alarm or run because it was cold after which get in and shake and shiver for ten minutes till it warmed up.

Once at work I find myself taking out my PDA and seeing what's on my agenda for the day. Nope, no additional flipping via pages of my pocket calendar or scheduler. My operate day is basic and uneventful, but instead of having to run back and forth via the office to obtain messages to everybody, I can now simply send an interoffice e mail with all the push of a button. When it can be time to leave, I again start my automobile from my office and drive property.

Arriving at household, I put inside a microwave dinner that does not need to be chopped up, cut up, stirred, blended, kneaded, poked, or perhaps prodded. Push a handful of buttons and five minutes later I am sitting in front with the Tv watching the shows I recorded on my cable’s digital recorder and eating my 5 minute, nuked meal. Would I've accomplished this previously? The answer is no, due to the fact I'd have had to physically make something to eat, and there wouldn’t be anything on Television worth watching, so I'd eat and go do some thing like yard perform, clean the house, play using the children, whatever, just one thing else to occupy the time. Oops, when I was eating, I got some crumbs on the floor after which dropped some additional on the way back to the kitchen. Oh nicely, I will just push the button on my robot vacuum cleaner and let it clean the entire floor because it is preprogrammed to do.

Lastly, my day is coming to an end and as opposed to carrying out one thing actually constructive ahead of I visit bed, I cannot resist the opportunity to surf the online world for somewhat whilst, perhaps chat to some friends or relatives, and check my email. Besides, I've to plug in my PDA for the pc anyway. Now my lazy or technologically dysfunctional day is complete.

This whole story brings me back to my question that started the entire thing. Am I lazy or am I just a product of my environment. It's this author’s opinion that I am both. Years ago, even the very simple items like generating the dinner would be physical exercise, but now it is actually also effortless mainly because it is accomplished for you inside a box. Every thing currently is easy and most adults are on the heavy side, mainly because things are easier and don’t take as considerably power. That doesn’t mean we in society are lazy, it implies we don’t need to exert ourselves as substantially to accomplish the on a daily basis routines which are needed to total the day. Nevertheless, I could quit by the fitness center on my way household, or go for a walk soon after dinner, so I am also lazy also. The world wide web just pulls me in night right after night and I can’t appear to produce myself do something else following dinner. Shame on you technologies for holding that gun to my head!
