Similar to other cultures, Christian matrimony is divided into parts, including, the pre wedding, wedding and post wedding customs and traditions. Since the Christian community can be anywhere all over the world, it is not rare to see some of the wedding customs and traditions within this community to differ from country to country.

There is a bridal shower which the people organized and is dedicated to the Christian bride. It is held during the pre- wedding ritual and is full of joy, fun and laughter. There will be lots of dancing, music and fun and the celebration would be attended by female friends and cousins of the bride. The party can also be filled with so many fun games. Lots of gifts and blessings are given to the Christian bride-to-be from her family, relatives and friends in order to have a happy and blissful married life. During the occasion, the bride usually serves her guests a pink cake. People are used to having this unique custom of putting a thimble inside the cake then whoever gets the piece of cake with this hidden thimble is believed to be the next in line of getting married.

The Christian bride wears a wedding dress which is also another highlight in a Christian matrimonial. Most commonly, the bride wears a white wedding gown which can be simple or highly embellish and a netted one. Her head will be wearing a white veil with a tiara. The tiara can be made up of diamonds or a bunch of flowers. The bride looks superb whichever way she chooses. Of course, a bouquet of flowers will not be forgotten. This is being held by the bride to be thrown to the female single ladies after getting married. To the one who will catch the bouquet, it has been traditionally believed that she is the next girl to be married. Another unique feature is the trail of the gown. You can see small and sober trails while magnificent marriages can be quite long. Indeed, the beauty of the Christian bride will be emphasized more with this entire ensemble.

In the occasion, the groom is going to wear a formal suit that is black or navy blue in color. An informal party where the host of the party is the groom himself is also being celebrated. This time it is called a bachelor's party. Of course this is held before the wedding since it is a celebration of the groom’s last night of being single. There will be many excitements in the air and toasts raised for the groom during this pre wedding bash.

In the wedding, probably one of the most emotional feelings experienced by the Christian bride is when she enters the church, taking support of her father's arms. There are bridesmaids and the maid of honor who will follow the bride. It is the job of the best man to take her to the groom after greeting her. The moment the trail of the bride is lifted by the bridesmaids, the view is amazing. The marriage vows must be repeated by both the bride and the groom so that the priest can acknowledge them as man and wife finally.
Sun, 25 Mar 2012 06:18:38 GMT OliveHibbs286 http://www.aalf.org/wiki/index.php?title=Talk:OliveHibbs286
