100 Port Royal students get laptops of their own through nonprofit group

With their rounded edges, kid-sized plastic handles and rubber-membrane keyboards, the neon green and white XO laptops Port Royal Elementary School students received Monday morning look like toys.

But the extra-durable 10-inch computers are intended for another purpose: Improve student acheivement by eventually making laptop technology available to every elementary school student in the state.
