One Laptop Per Child and the East African Community Commit to Providing Laptops to 20 Million Primary School Students by 2015

KAMPALA, Uganda - (Business Wire) One Laptop per Child (OLPC), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help provide every child in the world access to a modern education, is partnering with the East African Community (EAC) to deliver laptops to every primary school student throughout the EAC by 2015. This commitment is in line with the UN Millennium Development Goal of enabling a generation of children to think critically, connect to each other and to the world’s body of knowledge, in order to create the conditions for real and lasting peace.
