Students need computers, but purchase was off-base
Posted by: Susan Einhorn

I congratulate a letter writer for speaking out on behalf of taxpayers regarding the Pinckney school district purchase of laptops. I believe students should be exposed to computers and software in order to compete for future jobs. In my opinion, the bond and program are not the proper method to purchase computers and burdens the community with further debt.

Fiscally, the purchase was irresponsible. First, obsolescence will require payments beyond the service life of the computers, and maintaining the program will create perpetual purchases every three to four years.
